.243win

Guns

Ruger M77 mark 2, with a Bushnell Firefly 2.5-10×40

.243win is based on a necked down .308win cartridge case. It was developed by winchester and introduced in 1955. It offers bullets from 55gr and V0 from over 1200m/s to 107gr bullets at about 900m/s. The heavy bullets need a quick twistrate though (faster than 1:10). My Ruger M77 has a twistrate of 1:9 and is well suited for heavy bullets, but tends to overstabilize lighter bullets.
